CartelMTL is a Montréal-based conference for new music curators organized in collaboration with the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (leading UK-based new music festival with history of presenting new music from Stockhausen, Boulez, Xenakis, and Cage), and co-presented by Le Vivier (33 member network of Québec new music producers and presenters), the Quatuor Bozzini (Canada’s leading new music string quartet) and the Suoni Per Il Popolo (one of Canada’s leading contemporary music festivals which presents improvised music, sound art, avant rock, contemporary classical and many other styles).
CartelMTL’s first edition will take place between June 12 and 15, 2014 during the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival. Besides attending meetings, participants will be able to attend an exciting array of concerts presented by the Suoni Per Il Popolo and Le Vivier.
During CartelMTL 2014 the Observatoire interdisciplinaire de création et de recherche en musique (OICRM) and the Canadian New Music Network (CNMN) will be among us. The OICRM will pursue its research project on music audience development in Québec.
Finally, the meeting sessions will be moderated by composer Cassandra Miller.
