Chant pour un Québec lointain

The Quebec chapter of the Canadian Music Centre (CMC) presents a conference concert on composer Rachel Laurin’s melodic cycle Chant pour un Québec lointain with lyrics by Madeleine Gagnon.

True to its mission of promoting Québécois music content, the CMC pairs the music performance of baritone Marc Boucher and pianist Olivier Godin with Nicolas Gilbert’s oratorical skills. Gilbert will host a conversation on the creative process behind the cycle with composer Rachel Laurin and author Madeleine Gagnon. This is an opportunity to discover this piece premiered last April, while a second cycle of nine melodies on poems from the same collection is in the works.
